About IIT Roorkee

IIT Roorkee traces its origin to Thomason College of Civil Engineering, founded in 1847, making it Asia's oldest engineering college. It became the University of Roorkee in 1949 and was converted into an IIT in 2001.

Also known as Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, IITR, University of Roorkee, Thomason College.
